TAN COMO, MÁS QUE

-        Igualdad

Tan + verbo/sustantivo/adjetivo + como

Marta ríe tanto como él = Marta laughs as much as him.  

Paula quiere tanta comida como ella = Paula wants as much food as her.

Soy tan joven como tú = I'm as young as you.

-        Superioridad

Más + sustantivo/adjetivo + que

Éste libro tiene más páginas que este otro = This one book has more pages than this other one.

Esta habitación está más limpia que el comedor = This room is cleaner than the dining room.

Verbo + más que

El niño come más que ningún otro = The child eats more than any other.

-        Inferioridad

Menos + sustantivo/adjetivo + que

Él es menos joven que tú = He’s less young than you.

Esta casa es más bonita que la otra = This house is nicer than the other one.

EL QUE MÁS/MENOS, EL MEJOR/PEOR

Ser + el/ la/ los/ las + que + verbo/sustantivo + más + sustantivo + de

Es el que come más de la clase = He is the one that eats the most of the class.

Es la más joven de la clase = She is the youngest of the class.

Hablamos de mejor/peor cuando nos referimos a la cualidad:

Ella es la mejor = She is the best.

Ella es la peor = She is the worst.

¡CUIDADO!

Hay algunas irregularidades en la formación de los comparativos.  Los adjetivos bueno, malo, grande y pequeño admiten dos comparativos de superioridad:

×         Bueno - más bueno que / mejor

×         Malo - más malo que / peor

×         Grande - más grande que / mayor

×         Pequeño - más pequeño que / menor

Los adjetivos alto y bajo cuando expresan cualidad (no estatura o altura), también admiten dos comparativos de superioridad:

×         Alto - más alto / superior

×         Bajo - más bajo / inferior
